Core principle

Growth comes from choice. Relevance is what drives it.

Differentiation and distinctiveness matter. But relevance is what makes a customer choose one brand over another. Everything we do follows from that.

Why we exist

What we built, and why

We built Original Minds because the two most existential questions in any business — “why should they choose us?” and “why don’t they?” — were the ones nobody could answer with evidence.

So we built a system that reads the forces shaping choice in a category, models what customers actually decide on, and judges a brand against that standard — every month, every quarter, for as long as the client wants to keep knowing.

Whether you’re a CEO trying to work out why growth has slowed despite everything going right, a CMO who needs more than campaign metrics to explain what’s happening, or a board that wants an independent read on a brand it backs, the answer is the same: you can’t fix what you can’t see, and you can’t see it from inside.

What we are

A strategic intelligence and advisory firm built to help you become the most relevant choice.

Original Minds focuses its intelligence and advisory on why customers choose — continuously, and specific to a single brand. We read the forces shaping choice in a market, diagnose where a brand stands against them, and advise on what to change to become the most relevant choice in the category.

We work with brand-led companies: the ones whose growth depends on being preferred rather than merely available. A Nordic-born firm, working across Europe and North America through two subsidiaries.

An instrument, not an opinion.

Two core questions

Why should they choose you?How can you be chosen more?

We have asked those two questions of hundreds of companies. Few could answer either one precisely. The whole firm exists to answer them properly, backed by evidence.

The founder

Tobias Dahlberg

Tobias Dahlberg

Founder · Original Minds®

Founded on 500+ commercial cases. Built on one recurring insight.

Original Minds is led by its founder, Tobias Dahlberg, who has spent twenty-five years working with brands and businesses across the Nordics, Europe, and the United States — global icons, national category leaders, and a long tail of challengers — in brand strategy, research, innovation, and marketing.

One finding recurred: customers choose the option most relevant to them in the moment. He began asking every client why they were chosen, and what would increase choice. Few could answer either question precisely. Most strategies lacked proper evidence, and it was usually slow and expensive to get.

The firm exists to help its clients grow by becoming the most relevant choice to its customers — with an instrument rather than an opinion, continuously rather than once, and for a specific brand rather than a category in general.

How we work

Four commitments.

Nº 01 — 04

  1. 01Independence

Nothing we advise earns us downstream work.

We diagnose and recommend. We do not design, build, or run campaigns. When we say the answer is a product change rather than a communications one, there is no commercial reason for us to say it other than that it is true.

  2. 02No manufactured urgency

Some months, nothing important has changed. We say so.

A category everyone assumes is shifting and isn’t is one of the more valuable things we can tell a client — and it is not in our interest to pretend otherwise.

  3. 03Human judgment, AI-powered research

    The machines read. We judge.

We monitor the changing world by connecting millions of data points to understand markets and customers, then test those signals against a client’s strategy and brand. What you buy is the judgment and the recommendation, not the reading.

  4. 04A system, not a search

What compounds is the interpretation, not the volume.

We aggregate, curate, and interpret from every relevant source, free and paid. We do not run primary research, and we do not pretend to. What compounds is a versioned read of a named subject, re-judged as the market moves — the thing a general-purpose tool structurally cannot produce.

What we don’t do

The boundary, stated plainly.

  • Not an agency

We do not produce advertising, identity, packaging, or content.

  • Not a research vendor

We do not sell data for a client to interpret themselves.

  • Not a general consultancy

We answer one question, in four layers, with one methodology.

Where the work we recommend needs producing, we say who should produce it — and stay in the room to measure whether it moved choice.
